About matthew

Matthew Waldron Stahl was born on June 15, 2004, in Scranton, PA. Son of John and Rachel, he was a little brother to Michayla, and 5 years later, became a big brother to Jack. From the moment Matthew entered this world, he was a little ball of energy that smiled constantly. When he became a toddler, he loved to make people laugh. As he grew, so did his energy. His smile and giggle became undeniably infectious. Anyone who heard him couldn’t help but chuckle along with him. Matthew was extremely passionate about anything he did. Whether it was loving, laughing, crying, caring, worshiping, imagining, or writing, he did it wholeheartedly. An insatiable desire to learn and discover new things kept him very busy and always on the go.

Thanks to technology, we are able to hold meetings even though our board members are spread out among different states. We are always looking for volunteers for both Board of Directors and Super Hero Committee. Please contact us if you are interested in joining us!

Why is this Bible verse on the back of all our shirts?

One of Matthew's passions was going to church and learning about our Gracious, Merciful God. The Stahl attends Bridgewater Church where Matthew enjoyed Sunday school activities and evening children's group activities. Every night, Matthew would read from his "Action Bible" which tells stories in comic book fashion. One of Matt's favorite pages was based on Matthew 9:9:

"As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," Jesus told him and Matthew got up and followed Him." (NIV)

Young Matt could not contain his excitement when he showed his parents the picture of Jesus saying "Matthew, come and follow me" in his Action Bible. Little did his family know that the Lord truly was calling Matt to follow Him home.

It is Stahl's family mission to give away the Action Bible or another age-appropriate bible to anyone who asks!

superhero 5k event

Join us for a morning filled with family-friendly fun! We chose to make this race a Superhero Race because of Matt's love of Iron Man and the Avengers. We hold the event on the fourth Saturday in June to celebrate Matthew's birthday.  Every year, our board of directors chooses a local charity to raise funds for. Our 2024 event will benefit Care Net Pregnancy Center or NEPA whose mission is to promote a culture of life within our community by providing help and hope to anyone with pregnancy, parenting, relationship, or post-abortive issues.

mission & vision

Be a hero in your community

We are a collection of walkers, runners, cyclists, and volunteers with the goal to support their community and local charities. MWS Race Team Association organizes at least one yearly race to support a local charity chosen by the organization's board members. All team members are encouraged to participate in fundraising activities as needs arise throughout the year within their community. The overall goal of this organization is to support each other as we strive to live healthy and fit lifestyles while building a strong sense of community.
